The Youth Development team works to infuse program quality, service and youth development principles throughout youth programs. We support and maintain opportunities for youth leadership through service and advocacy.
Youth programs invest in quality programming through the training and support of our sites using the YPQA (Youth Program Quality Assessment) tool to observe classes and use the information to craft professional development opportunities and strengthen our overall program.
Quality practice is a continuous improvement process. We are intentional in allowing our programs and staff the time to Plan * Assess * Improve. One of the ways we encourage data use is through M3 (Making Meaning of Multiple Datasets). Other data used for quality programming involves participation, surveys, focus groups, attendance and retention numbers.
Community Action ClubsCommunity Education offers club opportunities for students to engage in community action projects to increase the understanding, engagement and empowerment of communities. Students practice leadership, assess community needs, develop an action plan, and implement the plan as a team.
HYPE Council (Helping Youth Promote Empowerment)HYPE is a council of high school students from across the district that provide funds, encouragement and support to service groups across the city that are making a difference in their communities. For more information on HYPE, visit here.
